What causes traffic?
When many people must go to the same place at the same time, there are more cars on the road. This usually happens in the morning and in the evening when people are going to school and work or coming back home.
Traffic engineers figure out which roads have the most people on them and then design the roads and traffic signals to keep people moving in their cars. Traffic engineers also make sure the roads are safe for people walking or riding their bicycle so we can have a safer community!
