On December 11, Horrocks Engineers Inc. was awarded the Most Outstanding Project award at Utah Construction & Design’s annual awards breakfast. The winning project, I-15; Brigham Road to Dixie Drive, earned the title of Most Outstanding Project in the Highway Over $10M category. A panel of industry professionals reviewed more than 100 submissions to select the 35 winning projects.
The I-15; Brigham Road to Dixie Drive project replaced interstate bridges over the Virgin River and widened I-15 to add auxiliary lanes and accommodate a future general purpose lane between Brigham Road (Exit 4) and Dixie Drive (Exit 5) in St. George, Utah.
The project improved motorist safety; utilized flooding, erosion, and earthquake protection measures; and adhered to a rigorous construction schedule—all while maintaining open lanes for motorists throughout construction and limiting impact to the surrounding environment.
